About this blog

My vintage sitting room.

Pages of Radioland— the title I found on some 1930s 78 rpm shellac records. Radio defined the era: programmes included the popular songs of the time, dramas and general entertainment.

I have a growing collection of vintage magazines, photographs and 78 rpm records which are the basis of most of my blog posts.

I reflect upon the era, write short fiction from the stories told in the songs (with some of the people in the photographs and magazine illustrations becoming the characters), share articles on vintage home making tips and recipes, the fashions and the music–

Dance band leaders Roy Fox and Lew Stone with their musicians (close ups of Harry Berly on the saxophone, bassist Tiny Winters, vocalist and guitarist Al Bowlly).
